Here's my five comeback players this season so far:
I remember last season when the Baltimore Orioles and the Florida Marlins were talking about a trade for A.J. Burnett, the Marlins wanted Lowell included in any package. The O's said no. I'm not losing sleep over losing out on Burnett. Healthy again, Lowell has been reborn with the Boston Red Sox. Last season, he batted .236 8 HR 58 RBI and 36 Doubles in 150 games In only 47 games this season, he's batting .321 with 7 HR 29 RBI and 23 doubles. His OBP has jumped from .298 to .373
After playing only 52 games in 2004 with the Chicago White Sox and only 82 with the Detroit Tigers in 2005, he's played in 49 thus far. His numbers were good in those 2 injury riden years, but now he's in the line-up every day. .314 Average 12 HR 34 RBI
Now that the world has realized the he's an NL guy, Renteria has thrived with the Atlanta Braves. He's sporting a .333 Batting average with 5 HR 21 RBI 5 SB 23 BB and 20 K.
The Chicago White Sox got even better by adding this guy. 59 games total last year 50 already this season. The move back to the AL has certainly done him and his body some good. 20 HR 49 RBI .295 Average and .435 OBP Last season he hit 7 HR and 30 RBI total for the year.
Last season with the Chicago Cubs was an epic disaster for Patterson. A .215 Average 118 K 23 BB 13 HR 34 RBI and a trip to Triple-A Iowa. After the season, the Cubs traded him to Baltimore Orioles for two low minor leaguers. Patterson got very little playing early and with some injuries, he got his foot in the door. He's responded well. 7 HR 20 RBI .291 Average 18 SB 1 CS His defense is amazing too. Check out his game from last night, 2 HR 1 SB and one over the fence catch to save the game in the ninth.
