Good news Angel fans! Former A.L. Cy Young Winner Bartolo Colon has successfully completed the first two phases of his rehabilitation from a rotator cuff tear. He is scheduled to begin throwing in Arizona this week, according to GM Bill Stoneman.
However, that doesn't guarantee that Colon will be ready to start the season nor does it mean that Colon will be sidelined until at least August, as the USA Today has speculated.
Stonehman was shocked at the USA Today report telling the media, "That sentence jumped out at me. As competitive as Bart is, we won't know when he'll be ready until he starts throwing. But everyone is saying he's done real well in physical therapy, he's lost some weight and is in good shape. We have to let his rehab run its course."
Colon is beginning the final year of a four-year, $51-million contract.
