Clyde Vollmer (Clyde Frederick Vollmer) was born on September 24, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on May 31, 1942 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1947, his rookie year, he hit .219 with 1 home run and 13 RBI. Vollmer played for the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Senators and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Clyde Vollmer's best season was 1951, when he slugged 22 home runs and knocked in 85 runs.
