Born on September 1, 1927 in Alba, Missouri, Cloyd Boyer (Cloyd Victor Boyer) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 5 year career. Boyer broke into the bigs on April 23, 1949 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.52 ERA in 120.1 innings pitched in 1950, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Cloyd Boyer's best season was 1950, when he posted a 3.52 ERA and struck out 82 batters.
