You knew it would only be a matter of time before it would eventually happen. Quite honestly I was waiting for the line, "It was taken out of content" to come out of the cake hole. To my surprise Clinton Portis didn’t decide to take that route…Instead, manning up and apologizing for his dogfighting comments after basically saying that whatever happens on Michael Vick's property is Michael Vick's business. True, private property is as such and whatever goes on behind the gates is none of our business, but one small problem the bonehead failed to realize…Is that when it involves legal and ethical issues such as dogfighting, well that private property suddenly has good reason to become public enemy number one.
"A couple of weeks ago, when I made those comments I didn't understand the seriousness behind it. I didn't know it would affect that many people, and didn't think what I said was that offensive. But after doing some research and seeing how serious people take this, I shouldn't have made the comments. At that time I had no idea the love people have for animals, and I didn't consider it when I made those comments."
Why do I get the feeling I just heard another "Joey Porter Style Apology"? You remember the one where he was sorry for calling Kellen Winslow Jr. a derogatory comment, but wasn’t apologizing directly to Kellen, but rather to some innocent fans who might’ve heard his pie hole flapping in the breeze. Why am I suddenly having flashbacks to that…Perhaps for the simple reason I see this latest act by Portis simply as such! Lets read between the lines here and translate CP’s soften view. Quite simply a great PR person was hired to help Portis get his foot out of his mouth for looking so ignorant! I, for a second don’t believe this was the act of remorsefulness that Clinton suddenly seems to be showing, but more than likely this "apology" was nothing more than suggested by the Redskins. However, it should be worth noting that at the very least he knew what he was saying "sorry"…Unlike some people, isn’t that right Jason Giambi.
There’s no way you can go from this
, (the entire interview) laughing it up, to this bull shit of an apology. Bull shit since it took about two weeks to fabricate. Usually if one’s really regretful, they say so right after the fact! So no why, all of a sudden, are we supposed to take this seriously? Simply because you did the right thing…Everybody knows it was nothing more than a public relations stunt. And now that you’ve recanted on his previous comments, does that make everything all better in the eyes of those fans irked by his original remarks? No way Jose! See Clinton, forcing dogs to kill each other for sport, that’s just inhuman, but then again you did go to "The U". Lets put this in terms that you might somewhat understand…Dogfighting & Slavery, (yes, I’m going there, but who knows if I’m coming back). These two words are very similar in meaning…And, really, honestly can be thought of on the same level The owners could care a rats ass what happens to the subject, whether it’s a dog or a person. All that matters is the job is done well and the owner collects what’s coming to him. The owner rules the roost.
I wonder what would happen if some ignorant S.O.B. said the same words about slavery as you did about dogfighting. Probably the same shit that you’ve gotten over your sheer stupidity. Although, if he apologized for it…Well, then all would be forgotten right? Yeah, likely…And George Wiener Bush is going to find Osama Bin Laden too, right? So save your lame ass apology…It was only done to help save your ass and not make you look so ignorant!
