Cliff Thrift (Clifford Ray Thrift) was born on May 3, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. After going to high school at Purcell (OK), Thrift attended East Central University. Thrift made his professional debut in the NFL in 1979 with the San Diego Chargers. He played for the San Diego Chargers, Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that 1982 was Cliff Thrift's best year.
