Cliff Steele (Clifford Francis Steele) was born on October 8, 1896 in Duluth, Minnesota. After going to high school at Mechanic Arts (St. Paul, MN), Steele attended Fordham University and Syracuse University. Steele made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Rochester Jeffersons. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Rochester Jeffersons the entire time. Steele also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Rochester Jeffersons the entire time.
