Born on January 3, 1912 in Brevard, North Carolina, Cliff Melton (Clifford George Melton) played for the New York Giants for his entire 8 year career. Melton broke into the bigs on April 25, 1937 with the New York Giants, and put up a 2.61 ERA in 248 innings pitched in 1937, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Cliff Melton's best season was 1937, when he posted a 2.61 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 142 batters.
