Cliff Mapes

Cliff Mapes (Clifford Franklin Mapes) was born on March 13, 1922 in Sutherland, Nebraska. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1948 for the New York Yankees. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .247 with 7 home runs and 38 RBI. Mapes played for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Browns and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 5 year career.
Most people believe that Cliff Mapes's best season was 1950, when he knocked in 61 runs.
