The Tribe got their most of their runs in a new way: a grand slam by Shin-Soo Choo(2), the first of his career. Choo's blast was part of a six-run, sixth-inning rally by the Indians.
Indians starter Jake Westbrook got off to a rough start, giving up one in the first and two in the second. Aaron Boone made it 3-1 with a home run, the only run scored off of Boston starter Josh Beckett in the first five innings.
Then in the sixth, Joe Inglett started the big inning with a single. He was brought in by a home run by Travis Hafner (31). Then the Tribe loaded the bases for Choo, who made it 7-3.
Westbrook gave up two in the bottom of the sixth and one in the eighth. Indians' manager Eric Wedge gave struggling rookie closer Fausto Carmona a night off and brought in Jason Davis who recorded his first career save, getting through Boston's big bats of David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez for the first two outs and he then retired Doug Mirabelli to end the game.
