Born on August 6, 1926 in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Clem Labine (Clement Walter Labine) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers and New York Mets over the course of his 13 year career. Labine broke into the bigs on April 18, 1950 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 2.20 ERA in 65.1 innings pitched in 1951, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Clem Labine's best season was 1956, when he posted a 3.35 ERA, won 10 games, notched 19 saves and struck out 75 batters.
