MLN Newswire – www.mlntherawfeed.com - Boca Raton, FLA – Boston Red Sox prospect, RHP Clay Buchholz ( MLN FAB50 Baseball 2007 No. 24), who spent most of the 2007 season with the Class-AA Eastern League Portland Sea Dogs, was selected by the editors of Minor League News (MLN) to be the third player featured in the new series of revival sports illustrations appearing in the online magazine MLN Sports Zone (SZ) the magazine of minor league and independent professional sports.
“I don’t think it was that we’re clairvoyant,” joked MLN senior editor Brian Ross of the Buchholz pick, which happened about two weeks before his rookie record no-hitter with the Boston Red Sox. “Sure, Clay is one of the best pitching prospects in the Red Sox organization, and his major league debut was impressive, but the truth is, you have to admire a guy from Texas who wears his cowboy boots to the ballpark in Maine!”
Illustrated by the gifted Toms River, New Jersey artist Ken Jones, this digital illustration is the third in a series of rising stars and greats of the minors who will be featured in original illustrations on the pages of SZ.
The spectacular black-and-white 17” huge illustration can be viewed at the baseball section of SZ, on Buchholz’ MLN FAB50 honor page, at the Sports Illustration section of SZ, at the Sea Dogs’ team library on SZ, and at MLNStore and Amazon.com, where 11x14” reprints of the illustration go on sale Friday.
