Born on April 9, 1909 in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Claude Passeau (Claude William Passeau) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 13 year career. Passeau broke into the bigs on September 29, 1935 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.48 ERA in 217.1 innings pitched in 1936, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Claude Passeau's best season was 1940, when he posted a 2.50 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 124 batters.
