Claude Hipps (Claude Marion Hipps) was born on April 23, 1927 in Hazelhurst, Georgia. After going to high school at Waycross (GA), Hipps attended the University of Georgia. Hipps made his professional debut in the NFL in 1952 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1952 was Claude Hipps's best year, as he picked off 3 passes.
