Born on November 20, 1869 in Clear Creek, Missouri, Clark Griffith (Clark Calvin Griffith) played for the St. Louis Browns, Boston Reds, Chicago Colts, Chicago Orphans, Chicago White Sox, New York Highlanders, Cincinnati Reds and Washington Senators over the course of his 20 year career. Griffith broke into the bigs on April 11, 1891 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 3.74 ERA in 226.1 innings pitched in 1891, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Clark Griffith's best season was 1898, when he posted a 1.88 ERA, won 24 games and struck out 97 batters.
