Born on July 2, 1929 in Wheeling, West Virginia, Chuck Stobbs (Charles Klein Stobbs) played for the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators, St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins over the course of his 15 year career. Stobbs broke into the bigs on September 15, 1947 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 4.03 ERA in 152 innings pitched in 1949, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Chuck Stobbs's best season was 1956, when he posted a 3.60 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 97 batters.
