Chuck Carney (Charles R. Carney) was born on August 25, 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Evanston (IL), Carney attended the University of Illinois. Carney made his professional debut in the NFL in 1922 with the Columbus Panhandles. He played for the Columbus Panhandles for his entire 1 year career.
