Chuck Bednarik (Charles Philip Bednarik) was born on May 1, 1925 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Bethlehem (PA), Bednarik attended the University of Pennsylvania. Bednarik made his professional debut in the NFL in 1949 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles for his entire 14 year career.

Most people believe that 1953 was Chuck Bednarik's best year, as he picked off 6 passes, ran back an interception for a touchdown and recovered 3 opponents fumbles.
