Born on April 14, 1955 in Wilmington, Delaware, Chris Welsh (Christopher Charles Welsh) played for the San Diego Padres, Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 5 year career. Welsh broke into the bigs on April 12, 1981 with the San Diego Padres, and put up a 3.78 ERA in 123.2 innings pitched in 1981, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Chris Welsh's best season was 1981, when he posted a 3.78 ERA and struck out 51 batters.
