Born on September 19, 1937 in Milford, Delaware, Chris Short (Christopher Joseph Short) played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 15 year career. Short broke into the bigs on April 19, 1959 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.94 ERA in 107.1 innings pitched in 1960, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Chris Short's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1965, when he posted a 2.82 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 237 batters. However, others believe that it was 1964, when he posted a 2.20 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 181 batters.
