HIGH SCHOOL: A 2005 graduate of Solon High School (Iowa) • high school coach was Kevin Miller • ranked as the 46th-best tight end in the nation and the seventh-best player in Iowa by Scout.com • selected to the SuperPrep Midlands Team, ranked as the 66th-best player • was named first-team all-area by the Iowa City Press-Citizen and first-team all-state by the Des Moines Register • was also a third-team Iowa Newspaper Association All-State selection as a defensive lineman • led Solon to a 12-2 mark and runner-up finish in Class 2A • had 11 receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns as a senior • also lettered in baseball, basketball and track.
