[edit] Biography

Born on January 21, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia, Chris Hammond (Christopher Andrew Hammond) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres over the course of his 14 year career. Hammond broke into the bigs on July 16, 1990 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 4.06 ERA in 99.2 innings pitched in 1991, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Chris Hammond's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2002, when he posted a .95 ERA and struck out 63 batters. However, others believe that it was 1995, when he posted a 3.80 ERA and struck out 126 batters.
