Chris Burford (Chistopher William Burford, III) was born on January 31, 1938 in Oakland, California. After going to high school at Oakland (CA), Burford attended Stanford University. Burford made his professional debut in the AFL in 1960 with the Dallas Texans. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Texans over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that 1963 was Chris Burford's best year, as he hauled in 68 receptions, had 824 receiving yards and caught 9 TD passes.
