Chiefs Whomp Chargers 30-16

I don't think anybody on this site predicted a Chiefs victory except for me. Now I don't blame the rest of you, the Chiefs' dismal showing in the first three games would lead any reasonable person to pick the Chargers in this one. However, as a die hard Chiefs fan, I am unlikely to bet against the Chiefs in pretty much any situation. But being the "glass half full" kind of guy that I am, I'm always looking for the angle that has the Chiefs winning in the end. The Chiefs had been stingy in the red-zone all year. Dwayne Bowe had caught a touchdown in each of the previous two games. And there was evidence in the Minnesota game, that stubborn Herm Edwards and his staff, were willing to rethink thier "establish the run to set up the pass" philosophy. I said last week in several comments that I thought they should shift to a "establish the pass to set up the run" doctrine, given the fact that the Chiefs had two big strong recievers who are impossible to cover one on one. Of course I'm talking about Tony Gonzalez, and the emerging star Bowe. 8 receptions for 164 yards was not a fluke. Look forward to other big games from this guy. Huard is beginning to see that Bowe is likely to catch anything thrown near him, and Edwards is catching on too. There's a lot of season left, but if you had told me before the start of the season, that the Chiefs would be tied for first after 4 games this year,.....Ok, so I'm the eternal optimist, and I probably would have said, ...I believe it.

At least in the Pick game, 3 people picked the Chiefs (out of 72). I unfortunately chose wrong and lost 20 points on the pick!

Uhh yeah. I pretty much have both feet and an arm or two in my mouth after blasting last week's picks from others. Kudos to you for picking the Chiefs.

I pretty much pick the Bears. Good thing I do place any money down this season.

Who would have thought that Dwayne Bowe would be the best rookie wideout a quarter of the way through the season?

nice pick! I actually had my worst week overall, I am 7-6 heading into tonight and worst b4 then was 11-5, but feel good about picking the Bills, Browns and Cardinals. still, I honestly didn't give the Chiefs a chance. I did give Bowe a chance though, he is the real deal. and I (did) agree with you that the Chiefs needed to and would try to get more downfield passing going. must have worked.

I can't make up my mind if the AFC West is good or bad this year, Den gets away from Oak and Buf, Oak escapes CLE and whomps a nobdy MIA team. KC beats a bad MIN team and a surprisingly medicore SD team and SD apparently spent the whole offseason hiring poor re-tread coaches and reading it's own press. So I think in 3 weeks we'll see what's going on in the West, for now props to KC for beating the teams in front of them.

And yet Larry Johnson didn't have the decency to score a touchdown! (/anger at fantasy draft)

The reason why Kansas City won the game was due to Norv Turner's brainiac decision to stop running the ball. Tomlinson had 10 carries in the first quarter and 116 yards and the half. He carried the ball just 10 more times in the last three quarters as San Diego tried to establish the pass and Rivers flat out sucked.
