Chiefs Compose 8-Man Practice Squad

The Kansas City Chiefs signed eight players to their practice squad today. Many of the players are those that have been in training camp with the team this offseason. Ingram has made the 53-man roster in the past as a backup, but this year the team elected to keep just one center. However, G Rudy Niswanger, who was kept on the roster, worked out as a center at times this offseason, so they have some flexibility there. WR Donovan Morgan is the new face, having spent the offseason and last season with the Houston Texans in training camp and temporarily on their roster in 2005.
One final interesting note is that the Chiefs are able to retain QB Casey Printers on their practice squad. It was speculated that since he was coming from the CFL that there would be terms in his contract whereby his Canadian team could retain his rights. Apparently those terms don't extend to the practice squad situation and he would only return if he were released outright by the team.
