Chiefs 2006 Draft Aftermath

So many boards had the Chiefs' picks going lower that I don't know what to make of the 2006 NFL draft for the Chiefs. The coaches seem to truly believe that they got who they wanted though, so until I see playing I can only trust that they know what they're doing in their own system. I have been hearing good things about the new secondary coach lately, so perhaps "coaching up" low draft picks and under-achieving veterans isn't out of the question. Does anybody that watched the players we drafted extensively have anything to say about them?

I don't understand why they took Brodie Croyle. He's too much a project to take over for Trent Green in 2007, and probably doesn't have the upside of the CFL guy they inked. I'd have drafted more with an eye toward the present.

I suppose they are counting on more than one remaining good year from Trent and that they think that Brodie is the real thing, injury-tendencies aside. After so many years of not directly addressing the quarterback position, I would 100% agree that this wasn't the strongest way to finally do it. As a fan though, I'm glad they are addressing it directly *some* way. I've got to think either Brodie or Casey will work out. Anything is better than Huard. I wasn't too sad to see Collins go either.

I'd like to see Casey behind center. He'd be a great story. But yeah, Huard/Collins aren't anything special.
