Chief Mullen (Samuel Mullen) was born on January 9, 1894 in Lawton, Oklahoma. After going to high school at (Lawton, OK), Mullen attended Haskell Indian Nations University. Mullen made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Evansville Crimson Giants. He played for the Evansville Crimson Giants for his entire 1 year career.
