Chief Elkins

Chief Elkins (Fait Vernon Elkins) was born on August 16, 1899 in Utica, New York. After going to high school at Haskell (OK), Elkins attended Haskell Indian Nations University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Nebraska. Elkins made his professional debut in the NFL in 1928 with the Frankford Yellow Jackets. He played for the Frankford Yellow Jackets and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 3 year career.
