Chet Mutryn (Chester A. Mutryn) was born on March 12, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. After going to high school at Cathedral Latin (Cleveland, OH), Mutryn attended Xavier University. Mutryn made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1946 with the Buffalo Bisons. He played in the AAFC for 4 years, playing for the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Bisons over the course of his 4 year AAFC career.Mutryn also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Baltimore Colts the entire time.
Most people believe that 1948 was Chet Mutryn's best year, as he ran for 823 yards, ran in 10 TDs, hauled in 39 receptions, had 794 receiving yards, caught 5 TD passes, ran back a punt for a touchdown and had 500 kick return yards.
