Cheers or Jeers?

Listening to KFAN this morning it was interesting to hear Mark Rosen talk about a conversation he had with Torii Hunter. He said that Torii didn’t want to get into bad graces with the Minnesota fans. Mark also said that he feels that the Minnesota fans understand that he is a free agent and has the choice to leave.
There will be one scenario in which Torii will not be in good graces. That is…if he signs with the White Sox. He will automatically turn into a second coming of Chuck Knoblauch. You don’t leave a team that is making you a reasonable offer ($15 Million a year) for one of their rivals. I hope that if he does choose Chicago that we forget what he did in Minnesota and treat him like any other visiting player.
I do agree that sometimes it is weird to know whether or not to boo or cheer a player. Chuck Knoblauch asked to be traded so he was booed, but why boo A.J. Pierzynski? The Twins decided they were done with him, making room for Joe Mauer, and traded him to San Francisco. The Twins even received 3-pretty darn good players in return. Yet…we boo AJ. David Ortiz (who has said how bad the Twins organization was to his power stroke) gets cheered and I assume that Jacque Jones, who left as a free agent will also get cheered. Others include Stephon Marbury getting booed, and Eddie Guardado getting cheered.
I wonder what will happen when Kevin Garnett, Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss return. Culpepper comes back this Sunday, but probably won’t play any. Moss will return some day, and remember he was great as a Viking and never asked for a trade. If you insert the word Timberwolf for Vikings you have KG. Except of course that KG did secretly ask for a trade. It’ll be interesting to see how people decide to treat them.
Baseball News:
Tim Kurkjian of ESPN reported that contingent on the Mets signing A-Rod, a deal is in place to trade Johan to the Mets for Carlos Gomez, Mike Pelfrey, David Wright and a prospect, and then resign Torii Hunter. Read my post from a few days ago and you see I already made that trade happen.
Matt Garza for Jason Bay rumors are heating up. The Pittsburgh star has fallen out of favor, and Garza isn’t the prospect he used to be (never able to win at the Dome), so this could work out well for both side.
Other Sports Info: Stephon Marbury could be on his way out of New York. I see Minnesota as a good fit, but impossible destination. Steph may be on his way to Cleveland.
Don’t Blog That: The Twins are not as high on Delmon Young as people think, and would only offer Boof Bonser, and not Matt Garza in return.
