Chavez Unofficially Turns in Most Productive Single Day Minor League Performance

6
Vote

Ozzie Chavez, a minor leaguer in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system, turned in arguably the most productive day a player in the minor leagues, or any form of baseball, ever has. The history books will show that on April 24, Chavez went 2-for-4 for Double-A Huntsville and 3-for-5 for Triple-A Nashville.

How is that possible? Well, it has a little bit to do with the reason the article is three months late.

Back on April 24, Nashville's game agains the Oklahoma Redhawks was called due to rain after the second innings. By Pacific Coast League rule, the game must be completed at a later date and all stats reverted back to the original date.

Chavez, called up to Nashville on June 21, was in the lineup for the make-up date on Friday and his stats will now show that he was in both Double-A and Triple-A on the same day.

Carlos Villanueva was another player to be included in the strange event. Villanueva, who was also at Huntsville on April 24, pitched the final seven innings in the game to get the win.

i wouldnt call it the most productive day in any form of baseball...in the major leagues, they play doubleheaders, and im sure someone has done better than 2-4 and 3-5 in a doubleheader

I meant productive as in, who's going to go 2-for-4 in one rung of the minor leagues and 3-for-5 in another on the same day?

Off the top of my head, I can't think of specific names or such, but I seem to recall hearing once about a guy who played an early afternoon game for some team, then got traded right after and made it to his new team in time to play for them that night. THAT's impressive.
