Charlotte Bobcats Summer

I know that it's almost football season, but I have to say that I've been happy with the Bobcats this summer. As a Duke fan, I've been very skeptical of the tarholes that are on the team (Sean May, I think was a mistake) and in the front office (Michael Jordan and his buddies Phil Ford, Buzz Peterson, etc).

I was very angry on draft night, when I heard on WFNZ 610 that we had drafted Brandon Wright. I was ready to throw away all my Bobcat gear, but I realized that I do not have any, yet. The next day, I learned that we traded him for Jason Richardson. We needed someone who can score and I think he will fill that role. I'm also glad to see in the past week that we resigned our own guys, Matt Carroll and Gerald Wallace to new contracts.

We were playing well at the end of last year, so I hope that we can make the Playoffs in the Eastern Conference in 07-08. I will be ready to purchase some Bobcat gear this fall.

Too early to call on Sean May still, in my opinion. Check out his per 40 minute numbers on www.basketball-reference.com, about 20 points and 11 rebounds, border-line all star numbers. I'm not saying that's what he'll be, but if he can stay healthy for 60 or 70 games, then the Bobcats have a player who dominated the NCAA tourney just 2 years ago, rebounds with the best of them, and is a polished low post scorer. With advances in modern medicine, his knee problems may be less of a factor than they have been in the past. Just look at Amare Stoudamire.
