Charlie Spikes (Leslie Charles Spikes) was born on January 23, 1951 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He made his Major League debut on September 1, 1972 for the New York Yankees. In 1973, his rookie year, he hit .237 with 23 home runs and 73 RBI. Spikes played for the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Charlie Spikes's best season was 1974, when he slugged 22 home runs and knocked in 80 runs.
