Charlie Sands (Charles Duane Sands) was born on December 17, 1947 in Newport News, Virginia. He made his Major League debut on June 21, 1967 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sands played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, California Angels and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 4 year career.
