Born on January 28, 1866 in Nashville, Tennessee, Charlie Petty (Charles E. Petty) played for the Cincinnati Reds, New York Giants, Washington Senators and Cleveland Spiders over the course of his 3 year career. Petty broke into the bigs on July 30, 1889 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 3.33 ERA in 54 innings pitched in 1893, his rookie year.
