Charlie Lau (Charles Richard Lau) was born on April 12, 1933 in Romulus, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on September 12, 1956 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1962, his rookie year, he hit .294 with 6 home runs and 37 RBI. Lau played for the Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Braves, Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Charlie Lau's best season was 1962, when he hit for a .294 average.
