Charlie James (Charles Wesley James) was born on December 22, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on August 2, 1960 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1961, his rookie year, he hit .255 with 4 home runs and 44 RBI. James played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Charlie James's best season was 1962, when he hit for a .276 average and knocked in 59 runs.
