Born on January 5, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Charlie Hough (Charles Oliver Hough) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and Florida Marlins over the course of his 25 year career. Hough broke into the bigs on August 12, 1970 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 2.76 ERA in 71.2 innings pitched in 1973, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Charlie Hough's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1987, when he posted a 3.79 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 223 batters. However, others believe that it was 1976, when he posted a 2.21 ERA, won 12 games, notched 18 saves and struck out 81 batters.
