Born on July 17, 1914 in Hickory, North Carolina, Charlie Frye (Charles Andrew Frye) played for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire 1 year career. Frye broke into the bigs on July 28, 1940 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 4.65 ERA in 50.1 innings pitched in 1940, his rookie year.
