[edit] Biography

Born on April 27, 1878 in Madison, Wisconsin, Charlie Chech (Charles William Chech) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Naps and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 4 year career. Chech broke into the bigs on April 14, 1905 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.89 ERA in 267.2 innings pitched in 1905, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Charlie Chech's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1905, when he posted a 2.89 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 79 batters. However, others believe that it was 1908, when he posted a 1.74 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 51 batters.
