Born on September 7, 1879 in Smith's Landing, Ohio, Charlie Case (Charles Emmett Case) played for the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 4 year career. Case broke into the bigs on July 5, 1901 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.94 ERA in 141 innings pitched in 1904, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Charlie Case's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1905, when he posted a 2.57 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 57 batters. However, others believe that it was 1904, when he posted a 2.94 ERA and won 10 games.
