Charley Trippi (Charles Lou Trippi) was born on December 14, 1922 in Pittston, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at LaSalle Academy (Long Island, NY) and Pittston (PA), Trippi attended the University of Georgia. Trippi made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 9 year career.

Most people believe that 1948 was Charley Trippi's best year, as he ran for 690 yards, ran in 6 TDs and ran back 2 punts for touchdowns.
