Charley Scales (Charles Anderson Scales) was born on January 11, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Homestead (PA), Scales attended Indiana University. Scales made his professional debut in the NFL in 1960 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1962 was Charley Scales's best year.
