Born on April 2, 1878 in Galloway, Pennsylvania, Jack Harper (Charles William Harper) played for the Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Browns, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 8 year career. Harper broke into the bigs on September 18, 1899 with the Cleveland Spiders, and put up a 3.62 ERA in 308.2 innings pitched in 1901, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jack Harper's best season was 1904, when he posted a 2.30 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 125 batters.
