Chappy Charles (Raymond Charles) was born on March 25, 1881 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1908 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1908, his rookie year, he hit .205 with 1 home run and 17 RBI. Charles played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 3 year career.
