Center Ice - You've Failed Me

It was an off night for the Penguins, thankfully for both their record and my blood pressure, so I decided I'd invite over my friend Chris to watch a game.  Chris, who just happens to be a Thrashers fan, was looking forward to the Thrashers vs Panthers.  The main channel for center ice showed real-time footage of the game, including the score on a ticker.  But, the game itself was nowhere to be found on the network.  Sometimes, this happens if versus has opted to host the game.  So, when I went over to versus I was a bit surprised to find the Detroit game.  No matter where I turned, I could not find this game.  I even scanned through all the channels thinking it might be hidden somewhere, but I couldn't get it.

So in the end, my point is - I pay $150 a season to get what is supposed to be a full season of every game.  Yet, I was beat tonight as I couldn't find this phantom game anywhere.

Ultimately we just wound up playing a seven game series of Panthers vs Thrashers in NHL 08 to try and settle the jonesin' for hockey, but I am still a bit peeved about it.

Yeah, I don't judge - ironically the Thrashers, Penguins and my other friend's team (The Leafs) all hold a similar record and are at the bottom of their respected divisions. It's kinda like an AA meeting every week, whereby we vent and explain how our obsession with something that isn't giving back is ruining our lives. I'm pretty confident though I'll be in better shape than them sooner than later.

Totally took some getting used to, but all in all I like the game a million times more than 07. IN 07, I was getting upwards of 100 checks a game, but at least this one is a little more realistic in that I average out around 30/40. Last night pissed my friend off though, not only because I swept him, but because in game 4 I pulled my goalie in the second period and played the remainder of the game with the man-advantage. Final score 14-12.

Yeah, it's really hard to time it at first. I think I just correlated it to a player in an actual game lowering his shoulder (pulling down on the right analog) and following up an through the player (pushing up really fast on the right analog.) It's been working pretty well, but for the most part they made it a lot harder. The goalies also freeze the puck way too much, but at least scoring against the computer is a bit harder than 07.

hmmm good question, don't know about that. I'd imagine it'd be pretty cool to work a hockey game into the Wii controls, but I'm not sure.

With NHL Center Ice, I cannot stand when they switch their channel lineup and if the whole league is playing on let's say a Saturday night (15 games), there were overflow channels. I couldn't get them and lost out on watching a specific game on one of the overflow channels. Thankfully this season, Cablevision alloted 15 channels plus the NHL Network (if you don't get it with the iO Sports Pak) together. I'd be mad too if I couldn't watch an out-of-town game that is supposed to be on the schedule on a specific channel and I don't have access to it.
