Celtic Pride (1996) is a comedy film directed by Tom DeCerchio. It features Daniel Stern and Dan Aykroyd as Mike O'Hara and Jimmy Flaherty, two fans of the basketball team, the Boston Celtics.
Mike O'Hara and Jimmy Flaherty love sports. So when their Boston Celtics get to the NBA Finals, the guys are loving it. The Celtics opposition is the Utah Jazz, only because of self-centered NBA hotshot Lewis Scott (Damon Wayans). When the Jazz win Game 6 of the Finals (taking the series to seven games), Mike and Jimmy hate Scott (who scored all the baskets for Utah) even more. The guys then devise a plan to get Scott drunk and keep him from going to practice the next morning. After telling Scott they are Jazz fans, and ironically being scolded by Celtics great Larry Bird who thought they were just fair-weather Celtics fans, Mike and Jimmy get Scott (and themselves) so drunk he passes out, babbling. The scene ends with them saying, "Let's get him a cab."
But when Mike and Jimmy wake up the next morning, they find a passed-out Scott duct-taped in Jimmy's bed. After taking pictures of Scott wearing Celtics material, the guys start taking him outside, but Scott wakes up and identifies Mike and Jimmy. After a scuffle in the entryway of Jimmy's apartment building, the guys get Scott back upstairs, courtesy of Jimmy's Russian TOZ-35 Free Pistol. There, they plan to hold Scott until after the Finals are over.
