Born on February 1, 1960 in Villa Mella, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Cecilio Guante (Cecilio (Magallane) Guante) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 9 year career. Guante broke into the bigs on May 1, 1982 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.32 ERA in 100.1 innings pitched in 1983, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Cecilio Guante's best season was 1988, when he posted a 2.82 ERA, notched 12 saves and struck out 65 batters.
