Cavs Get Stronger, More Complete

What are the odds of the Cavs AND Browns having great drafts in the same year? Apparently better then I thought.

Danny Ferry is turning out to be a tremendous GM.

Shannon Brown has the potential to be the Pippen to LeBron's Michael. He might not be completely NBA ready at this point, but with LeBron leading the way, I smell a ROY candidate.

The even more amazing pick though is Daniel Gibson. ESPN kept saying all week that Ferry had promised the first round pick to Gibson and Ferry kept denying it. Gibson still hadn't worked out with many other teams though, so Ferry steals him in Round 2. I have to wonder if Gibson knew this was the plan the whole time.

I was a little dissapointed that they didn't grab Kevin Pittsnogle with their third pick, but oh well. Potayto Potahto so they say.

Great draft for the Cavs, now we have to sit back and see what free agency brings (besides LeBron's max extention).

I'm pretty excited about the Cavs' future, though I am a bit concerned about how much Chicago and New Jersey appear to have improved. I'm looking forward to 2007 as the year that all three Cleveland teams make the playoffs. Would that be the first time that's ever happened?

Even Portland is looking good after last night. Power will shift in the NBA over the next few years. (Except for to the Knicks.)

I would love to see them bring in Pittsnogle as an undrafted FA. Then next year you could trade Hughes and Z and bring in Ben Wallace as a free agent in 2007. Imagine a Gibson, Brown, James, Pittsnogle, Wallace starting lineup with Snow, Damon Jones and Donyell Marshall coming off the bench.

I don't think they can afford to pay both Lebron and Wallace, although it crossed my mind. I'm pretty sure Wallace is going to end up in Chicago.

If they unload Z they can.

That lineup would suck with the exception of Brown and James. One Wallace has no offense. Two ArmPittsnogle has no inside game. Three Gibson is not a starter. With that lineup James and Brown would have to Average 50 points a game each.

WHoa there... Yo're picking an ROY a day after the draft. It's okay to be excited, but chill out a bit. The NBA draft is a crapshoot, and there were no surefire stars in this draft.
