[edit] The Leaf's policy on retiring numbers

The Maple Leafs have a strict policy on retiring numbers - they only do so for players who have died
(or suffered life-threatening injuries) while playing for them.

As such, they only have retired these two numbers:

- #5: Bill Barilko

- #6: Ace Bailey

[edit] Honoured numbers

With that policy, the Leafs have decided to honour some of their more famed players - while keeping their number in circulation.

These players are:

- #1: Turk Broda and Johnny Bower

- #7: King Clancy and Tim Horton

- #9: Charlie Conacher and Ted Kennedy

- #10: Syd Apps and George Armstrong

- #27: Frank Mahovlich and Darryl Sittler

[edit] Owners

The Maple Leafs are mostly owned by the Ontario Teacher's Pension Fund,
which then has an ownership group (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment
- or just MLSE) that acts as owners of the Leafs.

[edit] Head Coach

After the 2005-06 season had ended, the Leafs hired Paul Maurice as their head coach.
